FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions I get from prospective clients.
What types of businesses do you work with?
I work primarily with small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), home users, and solo founders. Whether you need a single application built, ongoing IT support, or a full infrastructure overhaul, every engagement is scoped to your specific needs and budget.
Do you help with everyday tech support, or only big projects?
Both, and most people start small. A slow computer, Wi-Fi that won't reach the back bedroom, a new laptop that needs setting up, a suspicious email, "I think I have a virus" — that everyday help is a core part of what I do, for homes and small businesses alike. If a small job later grows into something bigger, you're already working with someone who can handle that too.
Do you offer remote support, on-site visits, or both?
Both. A lot of issues are fastest to solve over a secure remote screen-share session, so you don't have to unplug anything or wait for an appointment. When the problem is physical — networking, hardware, a new setup, or anything hands-on — I come to you. On-site visits are available in the local Michigan area; reach out and I'll let you know what's workable.
Can you set up or fix my home network and Wi-Fi?
Yes. Slow or patchy Wi-Fi is usually a configuration problem, not a "pay for faster internet" problem. I can map out coverage, fix dead zones, configure your router securely, set up mesh or wired connections, and keep smart-home gadgets and guests on a separate network from your important devices. You get a faster, more reliable, and quietly more secure setup.
How do consultations typically work?
Every project starts with a free, no-commitment conversation. We discuss your needs, I ask questions to understand the scope, and then I provide a clear proposal with deliverables, timeline, and pricing. No surprises.
Do you offer ongoing support or just one-time projects?
Both. Some clients need a one-time build or fix, others want a long-term technical partner for continuous support, monitoring, and improvements. I'm flexible and happy to structure the engagement however makes sense for your business.
What is your pricing model?
All consultations are custom-scoped, there are no one-size-fits-all packages. Pricing depends on the complexity, timeline, and scope of work. I provide a clear, written proposal before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you handle security assessments yourself?
Security assessments and penetration testing are performed through my partnership with Binary Hive Tech Solutions. This means you get dedicated security expertise backed by a team that specializes in offensive security, while I remain your single point of contact for everything else.
What cloud platforms do you work with?
I work with AWS, Google Cloud (GCP), Azure, Linode, Hostinger, and other providers. I also set up on-premises and self-hosted infrastructure. Linux, or Active Directory environments - as long as I can get terminal access, albeit through remote means via a VPN or hands-on on-site, then I am able to work with it. However, the right choice (Cloud infrastructure vs. On-premises) depends on your needs, budget, and compliance requirements; I'll recommend what makes the most sense.
Can you help with an existing system that needs fixing or improving/upgrading from a Legacy system?
Absolutely. A large part of my work involves diagnosing and fixing existing systems, whether that means stabilizing unreliable infrastructure, improving performance, patching security gaps, or modernizing legacy applications.
How do you handle client data and privacy?
I take data privacy seriously. This website collects no personal data whatsoever, no cookies, no analytics, no tracking. The only information received by us would be anything you sent from the contact form. Any information shared via email is encrypted at rest using GPG/OpenPGP and never stored in plaintext. See the full Privacy Policy for more details.
What certifications do you hold?
I hold CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and Certified AppSec Practitioner (CAP) certifications, with ongoing training to stay current on emerging threats and technologies.
How quickly can you start a new project?
It depends on current workload, but most projects can begin within 1-2 weeks of agreement. For urgent matters, like a security incident or critical system failure, I can often begin immediately. Reach out and we'll discuss timing.
